LAAASSSSSTTTTT LLLLLEEETTTTEEERRRRR HHHOOOOMMMMEEEEE FFFFRRROOOMMM MMMIIISSSIIOONNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well the day has finally come it is my last Lunes PDAY. Im soo exited and sad to leave the mission but im soo exited to se all of you guys again. THese last two years have been by a lllooonnngggg shot th hardest two years of my lif. Mission Mexico Veracruz< has kicked my buttt... and i loved it! It has reallyhelped me to see what im made of and how much GOd really does know me and lvoe me. I wouldnt trade these two years for anything. I learned that the most important thing is just to maintain a good happy positive attitude, maintain the faith and just keep pressing on. I have never worked so hard in my life. Nothing i did before compares to these last two years, or even a day of the mission. I am infinitley greatfull for the opportunity that i hvae had to be here among my brethren here in Mexico. I wouldnt trade it for the world or anything. I cant beleive the End has come. But i wlak away knowing i gave it my 150% and knowing that i couldnt have done naything any better than i did. My biggest desire coming to the end of the mission is to ask and apply for another one. I done care where they would send me im not done yet i wanna keep on going. I love the mission soo much. I cant beleive how much my testimony has grown in the time. THe CHurhc of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints truly is the Church of God here in the earth. Nothing even compares to what th}is organization has. Just a 12 year old decan has more power than any church leader for other relegions. I have truly come to recognize and respect and know of the truthfulness of the power of the priesthood. i recognize that it is a tru priveledge gifts, blessing and honor to have been givin this to help and serve others. God has worked miracles through this authority in these last two years. I know that without a soubt that the gospel f justus Christ can heal anything. Any family and heart any person can be touched and changed an healped by the pwoer of the priesthood, the holy Ghost and the true gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon with now doubt is a book of God, puly divinly isnpíred for us in these latter days. I know God loves each and every one on us and that we are all in his hands. How knows us and hase lives an blessings specifically plannned for us. THe expiacion of Jesus CHrist is without a doubt the greatest sacrifice of them all and it makes everything possible. Even thugh i have tried to give as much as i could to God these last two years i know that its not ven the smallest of fractions compared to what he has given me. I lvoe yu all and i am infinitly gratefull for thee support i have recieved from all of you. I fell my heart tear in two as i slowly coem to the realization that life will never be the same and that even when i come back to Mexico it wont be the same. But i know its just part of life to move on and keep on workign and keep on pregressing. I lvoe you all and i look forward to seeing you all very soon! Takce care and ill see you guys real soon!

Ohhh Man!

ohh man this letter is probably gonna be a little shorter because im am tired. Today we went and hasd a sweet zona activity. We went to the biggest aquiological zone int he mission El Tajin to see some sweet pyramids. It was a qhole city. Dont worry i took like a million pictures, so when i get home we can make a little slide show out of it and ill share them with you. Neet expereice, but i still like seeing that kinde of stuff fromthe comfefort of my couch at home when the put it on tv, we wernt allowed to climb up them so it was cool sieng them but you couldnt touch anything. IT would be cool to get my hands on a good documentary video of the place. The were sopme pretty big pyramids and there was alot of details put into each and every little thing. Really enjoyed it.
Well as for the work goes. We had a pretty sweet leader conference last tusday, but htey threw a pretty sour surprise at us. Those of us that are gonna kick the bucket here soon (3 weeks) had to give our
whole goodbye testimony. Man that was a stinger. They putup the videa clips of when we first got off the airplane and everything. Good stuff. thent he rest of the wee was just workign as nirmoal. Rodolfo and his family are people we have been teaching for a while. IO dont know what i have told youa bout them. BUt have been a great family that we have been teaching for a while now. They are great people THey went to General conference and really enjoyed it adn then the accompanied us again to church this week. They have progressed alot int he almost month. But we gotta start talking to them about baptism now. Im not really all tha sure about how the are gonna respond, but its time to talk about that. ANd we also have andres for the 28th of april. We arer really hoping just to baptize this month and we are workign so hard this month, so we wills e that happens. But love you all and take care! --

Just Google It

Conferene wa a blast, as always we set up the English room and banned al spanish speaking from it, jaja one of the best parts was any time somebody messed up and started speaking english we kicked them out.  Ha it was fun, there were about 8 uof us greengoes, not to mention we are a pretty rowdy group, and 3 of us go home in a month.  By far my favorite conference expereince so far, i am laughing as a write this down.  By the way mom, we did indeed get the package, i got it wednsady.  ANd during conference we made them in the church kitchen, we made three bozes at one time.  To be honest it looked like we just got a big scoop of mud and pt it in one of this big tinfoil cake dishes.  THey were very rich chocolate.  BUt all in all a very great uplifting spirit, a combination of the conference spirit with a good twist of a mexico veracruzno missionary, this place sure has been blessed with alot of good missionaries.
Most of saturday morning made us viejo missionaries a little tryunky with all of that family talk, we might have rubbed off a little on the young ones as well. Saturday afternoon was great as well, all of these talks applied could help the church geatly progress in all corners of the world, we have really been blessed with such marvelouse leaders to follow. I wrote down the basics of what each talk talked aobut and my own personl inspirations now that i have more understandng of the scripture the spirit tends to work with me more than before. I look forward as alwayws to recienveing the ensighn so that i can really tresure up and fest on the Words of Christ that have been found inside these carfully prepared lifesavers. Id also realized that general conferences in the mission make good milestone markres, in every one you somewhat realixze just how far you have gone since the last one, the alos humbly remide just how far you gotta go. Most of the conferences were really awesome before i learned lots of great things to apply to myself. THis conference ws a little more different.  I couldnt help but think about how much everyone outside of that building is missing out. Especially as the Pope is coming here to mexico and the celebrations of Christs last week here in Mexico take place. i just look around and feel what Alma described in the end of Alma chapter 13. Someday we will ust hack to hack every satalite tv and computer to put conference on in all corners thought all the world so these people can come to thiers sences and see whats good for them. Whaat a blessing ti would be foer teh whole world to follow a living prophet in unison. And the second new observation that took place in my minde is there were constanly red flags going off im my minds throught the talkes of how this investigatos needs to here this talk that investigator should read that talk, he needs that she needs this, just all sorts of realizing the needs of many of my investigators, and finally finding the way to put that need into words. That was what was going on in alot fo the talks. Sunday morning was a great session as well. We had a huge miracle hapen for the second half of that one... we had investigators take the hour drive form misantla to martinez(the stake center) to watch conference, they just a had a 45 yer old son die in january, so president Minsons talk was a just what they needed ememdy, i will never forget they joy i felt at the end when i saw them at the end and for the first time in the last two months i saw that whole family glowing with light. THat was a powerfull moment for me i was more that happy that they had kept thier commitment and came and heared a profets voices. We wont be able to see them untill wednesday, but i hope and pray and trust that that was more than enough to convince them and to convert them, the spirit of that moment was incredible, they had to have felt it as well.  THen Sunday afternoon was beautiful as well, i love teh churches agressive stand on the beleifes and how they can though so mony docrtinal principles in one short period of time to get us from one point a to point b and they do it with such clarity and power.  They are ejemplar examples of what a missionary can and shouldbe. I have really grown to appreciate the example of these men called of God.  An interesting observation i made (correct me if im wrong eh?!) is thier ability to live happy well balanced lives, most of them had pretty high profile jobs, doctors, most were lawyers, and buisnesmen.  THey were able to have sucess in both aspects of life they found the way to balance it all out and continue to convert to the gospel. THey found teh strength to do it all. I dont know if im expressing right. BUt maybe you will understand what im saying. I really like that example they have given to us and im very eager to follow it. I imagine that its well contributed to the habits they each us to form here in the mision like daily scripture study, companionship unity, christlike attributes, positive attitudes and lte and ltos of good hard wrk, a get it done attitude. ANd much more im sure that i will only learn in time. Im geratfull for the lights that they are to me and that i have this privledge to stnd in thier shadows for a time. What a neat time to live in. Imgreatfull for it all. We pray more than once daily for baptisms this April, the furut is unpredictable, but we keep workign away, doing what we can to be a good influence to those around us. I let oyu know how those prayers end up getting answered as they are continued to be answered. I love you all and im VERY gratefull to know you and im VERY gratefull for the support you are for me, your words of encouragement and your prayers and infint blessings for sure. Thnaks for it all! See ya soon!

Still working with the same people as before, just really trying to help them open thier minds and thier hearts so that the savior can come in and heal them. THe spirit and the Book of mormon are the real misisonaries in this im justhappy to be participating at all. BUt im exited, lots of emotions building up but just gotta stay focused. I love you all and hope all is well at home! Thanks for your support and prayers, i couldnt do this without you guys!

Carry On My Wayward Son

Carry on my wayward son, ther´ll be rest when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest, dont you cry no more.

Well her in misantla we keep un carring on. This week was not the most pretty week dats wise, but we did manage to make the best of it!  Yanth and Marina as soo freaking close to accepting baptism dates, they are both just at the point of saying yes, i could see it in thier mouths, but freaking triste satanas, just jumps in at the last moment and takes it from them.  Im a bit frustrated with that. BUt we aer gonna get them, we are gonna win for sure.  We are really pushing to get them baptized this saturday.
Other than that we are really struggling to get a good teaching pool here.  Our proselizing efforts arnt really leading up to much, very frustrating. Yesterday when we had to pass data to the zone leaders they wernt very happy with our report. We are trying really hard to work with out branch mission leader to get a good plan figured out to get all of the members activated. Its hard to work with him sometimes because he has like 5 other calling witht he stake as wel. But im greatfull to have a ward mission leader, its the first time i have had one in more than a year.  Working wiht branches is hard. I cant beleive i have only been in branches for more than a year. There must be something i gotta learn or develope from these. I feel like a littel more unity and devotion form all of the members could help out. Thats almost always the biggest impediment for branches, the lack of unity and EVERYBODY being devoted. so we will see what we can do. Dad when you wrote me that letter wayyyy back about how my misison was going to teach me about pacience you wernt kidding. What i have started to do to finally be at least a little more Christ like is i make i poster of pictures form the teaching pamphlets and in the middle of all the pictures of Christ i write the Preach my Gospel definition and then i put it somewhere where ill see it alot so i can read the attribut definition alot through the day. Write now i have only doen Humility and Pacience, it really helps me to realize alot more quickly my need to change my reaction to certain situations. I would really like to make little cars of them to carry around throught out the day so that as we are walking around i can have it out and memorize the definition alot faster. BUt i feel like it helps me wiht my spiritual growth alot faster.
Can you beleive that next transfer is my last transfer???!!! I still dont acknoeledge that yet.  I cant even imagine speaking english again, Elder Offerhall says my english is pretty rusty. We only talk in spanish together. We will see what happens. This week is the last week of transfers. I think alot of the zone is going to get transfered.  It will be sad to see alot of these guys leave. We played football again today.  This time my team finally one. But mom i dont know when im gonna get my tavel plans, dont be so trunky they will come, there is stil alot of work to do.  Im not allowed to leave this branch untill we get up to 50 in attendance at sacrament meeting. we got 48 to go! Ok its not that bad, but we can do it. Its more likely that Elder Offerhall will get transfered, but then again when it comes to transfers with me the most unlikley thing is always what happens, so i highly doubt that we will be separated. BUt yea just trying to be really paciente and really humble about life, its really the only thing i can do, and just hope that my work will somehow serve for something here.  So we will see what happens with all of this, you never know what is going to happen in the Lords plan, ya just gotta be ready to recieve whatever comes whenever it comes, weather it be a blessing or another test to accompany the millions that we go through just gotta be ready and willing to accept it.  BUt i think that a big enough window into my life for this week, hopefully yall enjoyed it and it benefits you somehow.  THe life of a missionary is like living in a fish tank, we have to find a way to somehow benefit everybody, fun stuff. But i love you all, thansk for the support i have recieved. Btwdid you guys remember to Shake BROTHER Jakes hand for me? Im sure hes has been over to go swimming by now. Well i love all of you guys, take care and make good choices!

First Week of March

Well this week was  an interesting one. Lots of little pot holes...
Well The first one was wednesday, at about 130pm i get a call from the Secretary to the President.... he asked me what airport i wanna arrive at when i get home..... my tickit for going home has been baught.... what an ugly feeling. It was like a knife in the heart that one. I cant beleive it. ( speaking of home, someone shake Elder Adams Hand for mewhat ya get a chance, im sure he will be over to go swimming real soon.)
Um then i sepent all wednesday night throwing up, that was fun, the doctor thursday morning said that it was because of eating too much chile and gresees, go figure thats every meal! so i have been trying to calm everything down since. I have to be very carfull with what i eat for the next little while. BUt i worked it out with the mission mom Hna Treviño and the doctor, they gave me some anti gastritis pills. (i dont know wha the thing is called inn english sorry) My insestines felt like those long party baloons for most of the week.
Last night we had a counsiul of district leaders with the zone leaders and we talked about all the zone goals and fun stuff. Then we just stayed the night there because misantla is a good two hours away. Our zls are both in my generation so it was fun talking about the mission. one is actually form arizona as well, he is from payson, but spent the last year or two in chandler befor the mish, so that was fun to talk about. then in the morning we all got together  for Pday we wen twith alot of the zone to play sports. I played American Football for the first time in i think my whole mission. It was fun, me and another missionary switched off as quaterbacks. it was fun. We ended up winningthe last game but the other team one most. More than anything it was fun.
Coming back from playing i almost lost the cell phone. THe bus ride bask is really bumpy. We got to the house and i realized that i didnt have the cell phone, and i remembered that it probably stayed in the bus and fell out of my pocket. so we rean back to wherer teh bus passses to go back to the zls area and waited for the bus, and whan it came i got on and found the cell phone tucked away in the seat with 2 pesos... that was a huge releive, BUt i think i lost my origonal name tag that i got wayy back in the mtc. If i did im gonna be sad. Maybe when i check through ym stuff again ill find it. but thats was basically the week
THe area has been a littel more difficult. the people here are a little slpwer to let things penetrate. but even with the work being a little slower we keep really trying. Working in branches is always really hard because most of the members dont even go to church. BUt we have 3 people that could get baptized this next saturday, Marina, Edwardo and Yaneth. THey just need a few more priniples and they will be good. They are all three ready they just have to stop thinking that they arnt. They just gotta go for it and make that leap of faith. Just a little more pacience adn they will get thier, pacience and THe Book of Mormon will do the trick.
THis week on thrusday we have a zone conference with one of the area presidents. Benjamin de Hoyos. We have to study The docrine of Christ, The Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Talk by Joseph Waddel before we go. Last years conference by the area 70 was pretty sweet so i imagine this will be likwise.
BUt thats about everything we have right now. thansk for you help and support, hope all is well!

It's the end of February

SOB SOB SOB, the letter i was almost done with for writign you guys this week just got completly erased sob sob... ok so here we go again....
Um this week was a normal week for once in my life. Just a good week of working. We finally broke 20 lesons this week wich was 23 woo hoo, i have bood trying soo hard to do that daggumit! we finally do it. Now what would be cool is if we could manage to baptize every week. Thats basically a commandmet here in the mission, and i really want to do it it would be sweet. BUt i guess alot of it depends on weather its part of Gods plan or not.  Maybe thats what causes me frustation in my mission sometimes, maybe i just need to be more acceptign to what God wants than what i want. sigh. I just want to baptized every week nothign more, if God wants more obedience ill give it too hime if he wnats more work ill give it to him, whatever hee wnats i just wanna get these people baptized....
Well the people we are workign with this week are:....
Edwardo, he is the youth that was invited to go to church last week by his friend. HE accepted a date for this next saturday, that means we have to teach him, L2 L4 word chasity and tithing and bap interview by thursday.... al things are possible. ANd we have to get permisison from his parents. But he really likes everything. He loves church. We are alos workign on getting his whole family involved witht he lessons. That would be sweet and i feel like they could really help out the branch here. They need all the baptism they can get here.
THen we have Janth and her family. She last week came to churhc because she was invited by the same kid as above. SHe also reqally likes it. SHe tends to be a little more clingy to catholic. but the Book of mormon can fix that. THe only problemis that almost the whole mission has run out of books of mormon. We bring the world his truths! I feel like if we work really hard and are really stong witht he spirit and get htem a book of mormon thell be baptized a little later on end of marchish.
We are also working with Marina, SHe could get baptized this saturday, but she lacks a few more lessons and also needs a testimony of these things. I feel like she could get baptized the 10th. right now she is studing Alma 32 with How to find Faith in Jesus CHrist dvd. Lots of spirit is what she needs. THe spirit is the true missionary in this anyways. thats way we have riules, without the spirit we are necios! BUt she is a little more slow, but it can happen. The members are gonna pich in with visiting her. Yester day i had to let her in on the truthabout htre whole Sanits deal. I read in the Gospel principles class 1 Timothy 2 1-ish, i know the chapter is right. I always feell bad doing that, its like trying to convince someone that thier mother really isnt thier mother ya know what i mean. BUt if she accepts that and gets over it with Her prayer, doen right, she will be a great convert. SHe loves going to church. I think she is still going to the catholic church. BUt she should be noticing a difference. I may be in err, but i usually dont tell people to stop going to the churhc where thier at, my hope is that the spirit will kinda do that for me. but yea,
those are out main people right now. Erika os progressing great. I let her borrow the Gospel principles book so she can get to know m0ore of the truth and better understand church. Yesterday she had a interview by pdt santiago. I think she is going to make a gerat membe4r. Usually the more they stuggle to get baptize the more devoted they are to the church after.
And also the baptizm form January is doing good. Jose Cordoba, in fact he is the one that baptized Erika. Its great to see him activley participating in the branch. He blessed the sacrament last week.
BUt that it for investigators. Im still just focusing on baptizing. i cant beleive clouse is home and soone adams. Im sure they will enjoy being home. THis week i got the call form President Treviño, I as of today am now distric leader. Thats kinda a bummer, now i have to prepare district classes, but i got my first one ready, its about work, go figure. But im exited for it, It will given me more drive to work hard. I just gotta be diligent and consistently work hard. Im just really working on being the best person that i can be in this time. Just being ym best me and my happies me. God is helping me alot. He is basically taking me by the hand as i do this. Im still working on beign humble enough for him to work with me, even after 22 months. but we are gonna get thier befor the end i promis that. IT seems like the less i worry aobut i want the easier it is. so we will see where that goes. BUt i denfinably have growna deep passion fopr teaching the godpel with the spirit and havingg the spirit. If there is anthing ih ave learned on my missionit is how important it is to have that buddy guiding me in everything. I cerntainly am greratffull for having a kind and loving Padre Celestial, who still loves me even though my head is 90% bone.
We are alos going to start going on more splits witht he branch presidency to start workign witht he inactive emmbers. We gotta show to God that we really want this sucess. Faith with works is dead. we gotta show GOd our true desires. NA dits guaranteeded that according to our faith and our desires it will be given. I know we can do this, we will sicceed somehow. Even if my definition of succed has to change. But im stoaked. I lvoe you all and i certainly couldnt do this without any of you. I lvoe you all and pray for you every day. take care, hasta luego!

Semana of San Valentines Day

Ok well this was a very interesting week. well i already told you all about what we did lunes. When i got done writing we ran off to the city where my Distict leader is because tuesday we had to leave at 5 to go to vreacruz. In veracruz the whole mission was called to a surprise mission  conference where we learned that the mission will now be divided. as of July 1 2012 there will be mission mexico veracruz and mission mexico xalapa. they are dividind the mission directly in half. I wont be here to see any of that happen }. But its pretty intense to think that they are going to divide the mission. Maybe Jacob will come to one of them. So we were in that conference all day. It was a good conference, lots of good spirt there. And i also ran into Elder Daniel Slade, from our stake. He lives over by the Kings. He is going to start his mision overn in good old Ciudad aleman where i just came from. He is going to love it there. then we came back. slept in the dl house again and got back here in the morning. worked wednesday. Erika in the night finally accepted to get baptized after a pretty sweet lesson, that was very un planned. then thursday we had our zone class metting, or a zone pep talk where the zone leaders talked to us. it was pretty sweet. our zone leaders are form my mission generation. There are 4 of us in all in the zone that go home together. Then i had to go on divisiones in vega again while Elder carmona our district leader came here to do the entrevista for erika. while we were there we decided that we were finally going to get up early and go run to the beach that is about 5km away. That was fun took some sweet pics. ill send some. BUt dang those were long kilometers. We were runnng a little behind se we ended up hitchng a ride back to town haha. then friday we just worked. Saturday morning we had the baptism of Erika . and in the afternoon we had a ward activity where we allplit up into companionships and went off and visited about all of the inactive members. I was út with Hermano Nefi, the 2nd counselor of the bish rick. It was fun we taught some sweet inspired lessons and gave some blessings in hopes of re aniumating them and re kindling thier fires. So we will se what happens with that. then sunday, yesterday, we had 5 nvestigators in church. Man i was stoaked for that. a youth braught 2 friends that wanna meet with us. Hopefully we wo0nt hav eproblems with thier parents. And an investigator Marina came. THe members were surprised about how much she knew aobut the restoration of the church. (what they dont know is that we left here the restoration dv as homework since she can barley ready and she saw it like 5 times.) so she participated alot. And old anitiguo investigators came to church. so that was sweet. The branch looks like its increasing in its energy or animo or howerver you say that in english. and things are looking up. Im really greatfull for this progress that we have seen latley. God really does love us and being obedient alwyas and workng hard are really paying off.  BUt that the week in a wrap. today the only thing we have done his studied and cleaned the house. in a little while we are gonna go and wash clothes and thats why we had to write earlier thatn normal. But i hope all is well at home. I promis that i hardley ever let my self think about home or anything liek that. Just plugging awya and enjoying what i can. I love you all, thanks for all of your prayers and support i certainly couldnt do it without you guys. Keep up the good wark and take care!

Rainy Week

Ok well this week the sun only came out for a total of 2 hour. It hs been none stop rain all week. SO its been great to enjoy a little bit of cold. But its hant been helping my coagh howerver you freaking spell it!!! BLAH! But its been fun. There hastn been a whole lot of peopel to contact in the rain. ITs almost become like a ghost town. WHen it gets a little cold almost every buisness int he world closes here. But we did manage to adquire 9 new investigators. Basically 3 new families. We are stoaked for them because they dont feel like the others. THey feel like they have a lot more potentioal to progress. SO iether i have changed or they are alot more preepared. We had 3 investigators i church this week. ANd thats a milagro for this area. We are still trying to get Erika to just get baptized already. she will in time, pacience Elder Nelson pacience. And a member braught her frind so wel will see where that goes. BUt even though things have been pretty difficult we havent let down at all. If anything we are goin at it even harder. Today wasanother pretty sweet Pday. like you guys saw in the pics we went and checked out some local ruins. I had a pretty strong impression that they were somehow connected with Moroni. Maybe im crazy but there were a few pyramids and alot of  series if walls. they were pretty long. Imagine it was more of abarracks. and it had two rivers going down each side. YOu will get to see all of the fotos soon. BUt it was a fun expereince. I felt like Indiana Jones. And yes mom i was the first one up every one.  but thats was sweet i really enjoyed it. Tomorrow we have to go to veracruz for a preach my gospel trining thing so that will be fun. Lots of time in the bus. But im happy even though things arnt as i hoped they wouldbe when i first got here i know they are happening how the Lord wants the, to happen. His way his time. I just greatfull enough to even be here doing what im doing and participating they way that i am. I love you all an i hope you have splended weeks. Take care !

Math Jokes

Ok well there isnt anything to say about this week. It was a grueling humiliating one. I hope my emails dont make the mission sound like its alwyas like that. but success does have its price. We continue to have the predicament of finding investigators andhaving first appointments with thembut follow up appointments are harder to finde that the 100th decimal of pie. HA yes that was a math joke, what do you expect my companion is a math major. Me and Elder Offer Hall are staying together. Tha meant si wont be training. BUt thats ok. Those kind of things arnt everything. We cut alot of investigators and have started form scratch again. this must of been a little fraction of what the pioneers expereinced. but every success story has its ups and downs. Im just in the middle of making my own. The support emails i got this wek were greatly appriciated, so thanks to those who participated in that. this week we are just going to start from scratch and keep working to establish Zion here in Misantla. I will work on taking a few good pics this week of the place so you can see what a neat village it is.  I thnk you will really enjoy the pics. BUt thats all for now. Thinks will get good soon. Oh today ffor pday we played soccer with the bransh memebers. Way fun, i am defianbly converted into a soccer fan. I just need to learn how to play. And we washed all our clothes by hand again. In the mission you learn how to get real personal with your clothes. jaja. BUt its a good should workout. Les mando mis saludos. Im happy to hear that everyone at home is enjoying life. i love you all and im more thatn greatfull for the support that i have recieved.

21 Months and Overcoming Sickness

Ok this week maybe wasnt that bad, but it sure was no walk in the park. Monday returning form writing letters, i almost passed out. that had never happened to me before. I was in bed all monday, all tuesday. Just with zero energies. Elder Mosqueda one of the zone leaders cam over adn took my place tuesday. And i just stayed with members the whole day. Juest in bed. I had no energy. But i took all the medicin and kept on eating and the sickness was overcome. Wednesday i was tired of being tired adn went and and worked teh whole day. It was very challenging working wednesday and thursday but we got it done. I had a nast caugh most of the week. But Heavenly Father was nice enough to le the sickness leave me very rapidly. THe caugh is almost 100% gone. And i feel almost normal. FOr groceries, i just buaght pancake mix, apples, bannanas, oranges and yogurt and bread. The only thing i eat in the houseanymore is what i have left form teh christmas candy and the above items. Sometimes i will buy something in te street. THe work is about the same here. But God certainly did hear our prayers and we baptized sunday. Erika didnt pass her entrivesta because of commandment problems. But there was an inactive brother that we have been working without who turned out to have no record, so we had to teach him everything and baptize him. Im very greatfull that God gave us that. But we keep busting our buts off. We had 2 investigators in church yesterday. Thats a miracle. And the real Miracle is they were new people. One was a guy that we invited to come to church in street contact. We did an idea that i have been wanting to do forever. we printed off the church derections and glued them to the pass along cards are we inveted everyone we saw to church, and the miracle of it all is that one person came to church. So maybe our new finding tequnique will just be doing that all day and the teaching the ones that come to church. We also we accompanied by the son of a Sister here. He is the last one in his family that hasnt been baptized. The family got baptizzed about a year and a half ago and entered the temple 6 months ago, now they are just waiting on hiim to accept. So we talked to him saturday and he said he would come. And he came for sacrament meeting! It was great to have new investigators in church. We see him again tommorrow. BUt thats basically the week. It feels good to be alive agian. Today for pday we just went and washed clothes at a members house. When we dont wach there we have to wash it by hand and that just sucks. Me and ELder Offerhall played card games like scum plack jack and speed and egyiptian rat screw. It was fun. Talking about all kinds of good pre misison things. Ohh and i completed 21 months saturday. Clouse goes home this transfer and Adams goes home this transfer...... what in the world! The zone leaders say i will probably trian. we will see. I think it would be fun. But whatever happens will be fun. Welp i love you all, its been fun chating at ya all. I hope you have a good week adn that all goes well!

Influenza

Well last night i came down pretty badly with the influeenza. No se preculpe. I already have talked to the Sister Treviño. THey got me taking antibiotics and everything. All of it has made me pretty tired. I thought it was a cold so i was taking some cold medicin to get rid of it, but it didnt do anythin so i succumbed to call Mama Treviño and she told me to go to a doctor and ya, i should be back on me feet really soon. I have just been absolutly exausted today. Elder offer-Hall is going to be doing divisiones with members untill i am fell better and i wil just be resting. Its kinda a bummer, but animodo.
Well the area is really hard right now. We find people to teach daily, but we are really struggling to get the to progress. THey all feel like it would be turning thier backs on their previous religion. And when we talk about what is more importatn that or God, they just look ut us dumbfounded and dont do anything. Its a pretty tough situation. Erika still doenst want to accpet a date, she wants to wait a few MONTHS to prove to herself that she can keep the commandments, she doenst realy accept anything we say on the matter. We could possibly baptize 3 this saturday, but some pretty big miracles need to happen first. We have been praying alot for the last few days. SO we will see what HEavenly Father decides to do. It would be a bumber to go this months without baptizing. BUt there isnt anything more we could do so we just gotta be happy. Lat night we had the first people in a long time that have accepted a baptismal date in the first lesson. Its a family of 5. THey accepted a date for the 12 of february. SO cross your fingers that they can have the courage to do it. We have an appointment wiht them today at 8, so i gotta put alot of trust in elder offerhall and this member. THe people here are kinda wierd. Nobody wants comitments. THey all wnat to listen and nothing more. Its been taugh. Surprising i have had alot more pacience than nemal. Se wl will just have to wait and see if anything happens. BUt thats all for this week. Even though its taugh we still keep working really hard. We are becoming quite famos for being the only americanos. We printed out the church buildin adress and we glued it on the back of a bunch of passalong cards and in every contact we do we give it to them adn invite them to church. So wewill see what happens. Im prety exaughsted with the flu but everything will be ok. I love you guys and thanks for all your prayers, i certainly couldnt do this without all of your.

21 months...what?!

well this week was well long and fast. Erika is soo close to accepting a bauptismal date, she is just soo close we just gotta polish up a few things and ya! SHe will get baptized! We are going to go and see her right after this. Oracis and catolina are still waiting on getting a dovorce fro ex spouses so they can get marries and baptized. But we are getting really close to having my first baptizm here. THe lord is really wokring with Erika alot, she mae a ton of progress this week. I left her my Gospel prnciples book in hopes of getting her more exited. BUt thats the only investigator progress we have had so far. Nobody else is making any progress. We finde lots of ew people but most of them just want to liten to us and nothing more.  Too afraind to leave what they have and feel something new. ITs too bad, but we have te respect thier agency. Thtast about all really, we are working really hard to get things goin in the area, we are working right along with the branch counsil to get things up and moving. MAn my mind has alos been pretty heavy with all kinds of thoughts. I cant beleive im gonn complete 21 months this months. I dont know what im gonna do with myself. Every time i here a little bit about home it sem slike an atomic bomb has gone off and everything i once knew is now gone. So slowly getting nervouse about that! BUt i lve you and i sure am gratefull that in all of this my family will always be there! Long live eternal families woo hoo!

Christmas, a Transfer and Happy New Year!

DECEMBER 26, 2012

Well christmas went buy stupendously, i couldnt have asked for anything more. We christmas eve day we worked as normal, found some decent new investigators. THen in the afternoonwe went and had the baptismal service of Gustavo. Everything went perfectly for that. It took two aattempts to get him all the way done, but on the second one we gotterdon! he was freaking heavy! almost all of the water splashed out of the font! my mouth got filled, and it looked like we got baptized Alma style! then for the night we ate with a nearby member family. We ate a version of ham, it was really good, with spaguetti and basically funeral potatos. It was allr eally good. THen in the night me and elder Peña played Monopoly untill about 2 in the morning. THen we woke up at 630 as usual and went to church. It was just sactament meeting. We even had an investigator there, not bad for bing on CHRISTMAS day! so that was really sweet. the after we came back and continued playing monopoly untill it was time for elder peña to call. I fell asleep during the call. ANd then he finished and thats when i called you guys ad you hung up on the first attempt! MAn but i cant beleive how hard it was to speak english at first. Thats basically how all of us speak english to echother here. haha TOday we cleaned the house good and got clothes washed, then in the night im gonna get everything packed up nicely. My next comp is gonna be Elder Offer-hall.  Like i said yesterda i will be his second companion, so that means my load just got ALOT heavyier, well relly soon it will be. But im exited for the challenge of the area and everything it will be funand it will be good hard work! I lvoe you all. I hope everyone had a great christmas and i hope you all have fantastic new years. Take care and please keep praying for me i surly do need them! ANd Family, have problems? Try reading the scriptures together!

JANUARY 2, 2012

Freak its 2012, Shouldnt we be living on the moon by now and have colonis on mars??

Ok so this week a good missionary week. I got te the are at about midnight Tuesday. Its actually farly big. ANythings bigger than ciudad Aleman anyways. But its really cold here when its cold, i can see my breath right now. ITs been raining for the last 24 hours and that makes it really cold. THis week has been alot of working really hard. We hvae been contacting alot and knocking alot. Im still working on getting  a hang of the new area. Its alot bigger than ciudad aleman. THere are actually people ahere and there ae even traffic lights. THe people so far have been pretty nice. It has been the holidays. BUt its beeen fun. Here we wil be able to work alot faster the in ciuadad aleman. Meaning we sould be able to more easily find more investigators and process them adn decide who are the ones that are reasy and who need a litle more time to ripen.  Elder Hoffer-Hall is from Las Vegas. He is a really smart kid. He was studing Spanish at byu before the mission. He got a million grants to study there i guess they even paid him a little. SO maybe a little of that can rub off on me seems that im gonna need it way to soon jajaja. THe branch is really small. There are a million inactive peopl here and only about 30 go to church regularly. SO that could be a little bit of an impedament. SO lots of working to do. Im not really sure how im goin gto do everything that needs to be done. I really hope to be able to raise branch strength and attendance. It all just starts one bite at a time. I really hope we can be blessed to baptized lts of good strong converts here so that they will stay and be good strength to the branch. I really hope everything goes good here. Seems that its goin to be my last area. The members that i hvae met so far are pretty sweet. I just keep praying that we will see the progress that i hope to see. So please keep praying for me and supporting me, i cant do any of this without you help! THanks for everything i love you guys! Take care!

Felise Navidad!

WOW can you believe its Navidad already, it doenst seem like it was all that long ago since the last time i was writing you guy sfeliz navidad!  Ok in part thtas a lie, it was n erternity ago, but also it wasnt that long a go, its still in my head like it was last week or last month.  bUt anyways...
THis week we amazing because we had a misison conference to celebrate christmas.  One of the rarest things on the mission happened.  THe whole mission got to gether to celebrate Christmas.  We heard from the mission presidency andfrom President Treviños fam.  It was great. BUt the best part was going to the temple.  That was the first time in a whole year that i have entered the temple.  THat is way too much time to spend outside of the temple. But i absolutly loved it. I would live in the temple until i die if i was given the oportunity! I lvoe that place. There is no place that feels morel like home than that sacred building.  And it is so beautifull what one feels there that is denies ll description.  BUt this week was a miracle week beacsue hermano Gustavo, husband of recent convert Sara, finally accepted a baptism date!! WOO HOOO!
We ahve been praying for this for what seems like along time.  ANd ever since he just keeps getting more adn more exited to get baptized.  Were talked to him about eternal families and this great blessing that God has promised us and that he and his family can recienve it but only trough the true church. And after that we invited him to get baptized and her accepted.  We had teh 2nd counsilor fo the branch presidency accompany us and he really made a BIG difference. He really got gustavo to open up.  THe spirit was intensly strong.  So the schedualed baptism is for the 24th.  We are crossing our fingers and praying that everything eill go well and that all opposition will be overcome.  We are exited for this!
We are alos working with Felicita. SHe came to church for the first time yesterday.  We havent been able to see her since she left, so hopefully sometime this week we will see here and get to see how she liked it.  BUt if all goes well she sould be on schedual for the 31st of december.
Thats about all of the work we have right now.  We are really just working on not slowing down for christmas time.  Its gonna be a little dificult because nobody whats to change religions durnign christmas time.  BUt Impossible doenst exist.  so are just gonna keep going at it.  Thanks for al the letter of support fam that you sent.  Im really looking forward to talking to you guys next week!ª Take care and we will have a good chat next week!

The weekend of Thanksgiving

ok well here goes this week, ill work to make it as interesting as a
can.  sooo stoarting monnndddaayyy.... well we just had a normal day.
Then tuesday was theday of exchanges so i went toi 3 valles and our
district leader elder moya came here, and tuesday and wednesday we did
the exchange.  I didnt like working outside of my area to be honest,
even then im getting a little borede here i didnt like how it felt to
be in another area, so those two days were really long.  THe elder i
worked with is when who has been struggling a little bit, Papi Treviño
gave him a call a few weeks before tellng himto pick thinks up or he
is getting the boot.  SO i went and did my best to animate him.  Im
starting to sound way to much like dad.  I gave him the good ol 5
types of workers skit and shared with him some of my favorite
scriptures.  So it was neat to be able to help him how i can and share
a little bit of what i have learned in all of my personal struggling
here.  I still sound way to much like dad.  But i wasnt scolding him
or anything like most people do here so thats good for him.  We worked
hard those days and found some new investigators and helped thier
current investoigators animarse.  And then in the night we had a jam
jam session.  Thats what me and elder Flores used to do wayyy back in
the days wehn i first got to this area.  He had a guitar.  Its really
neat to start inventing songs with the guitar.  But year we just sang
away whatever we had inside and would have slpet prettyy good if it
wasnt for the infinit of stupid mosquitos.  Bothnights there one bit
me on the bottom of my foot, and i spent the whole night trying to
satisfy the stupid bite with endless scrathchin.  SO those were two
longs nights.  THen wednesday we had zone class pep talk.  THe zone is
pretty similar to how its been for a while.  We are all pretty
friendly here.  In the 20th of december alot of elders go home so it
will be interesting to see what happes.  I have spent most of my
misisonin this zone (9MONTHS) so i guess you could say i know it
pretty well.  BUt thursday morning we finally switched back and it
felt really good to be here again and get back into the routine of
Elder Nellson.  r4emember how i told you all that at 18 months i
started my exercide again, well last week e ran alot, to some little
airport thats here in my area it was nothing but hills, it killed me,
but it felt good. BUt today for a almost all zone activity we played
basketball and i can already fellthe differnece so thats good.  I just
wish they wouldnt make me drink soda here anymore.  ANd friday and
saturday were normal as far as i can remember just pluggin away.  i
havebeen working on changing my mentality latley, form not what God
gives me for what i give him, to  a what more can i give actitude.  It
makes working feel alot better to be honest. And this week im gonna
wrk on with the faith GOd has helped me develope in these last weeks i
wanna work on just relaxing more, letting go more of my worldy
desires, and just seeignthe brighter side of things.  THerese threee
things are mostly just a mental tweeks and  change in my way of
thinking. It will take pacience but tis will come.  Sunday we had
xochitl in church.  HA we almost commanded her to go to church, but
thats what you have to do sometime, again im sound too much like dad.
SHe should get baptized this saturday, as long as she doesnt pecar.
BUt im just really gonna work on chilling out a little bit so that i
dont get frustated when he investigators dont do what they should do.
I dont show the frustation to anyone dont worry about that.  But it
does get annying. THis week we dropped mario.  He was just becoming a
wste of time and doesnt want to make a decition and much less was
keeping commitments. So hopefully he can calm things down in his life
and organize his minde and come back ready to make a decision.  Today
we came here to Tuxtepec to play soccer and we played basket.  I
really like playing basket here in the mission. Im trying to convice
the Zls to organize a Fut americano game with the zone.  THere ae a
few guys in the zone that played in colledge here so it couls
potentially be fun.  THen we went to the Dominoes pizza that was here
and just had a good time talking about the mission and our
Expereinces.  Dad you asked about Papi Treviño, well to be honest i
have never really talked to him.  But he is always really exited.  In
the Intervies he puts alot of effort into helping us inprove so we cna
work more efficiently.  He is a good person and a very succesfull
person.  ANd her does the best he can to help us enjoy more the
misision and work harder.  BUt thats about the week. ANd this week is
going to be about the same, just working on making the necessary
changes and keep on pluggin away and working to bapriteze every week.
I cant beleive how close CHristmas is getting.  And i dont think im
going to do anything to celebrate thanksgiving, i didnt do anything
last year, imnot even sure what day it is.  THe only Holiday we
celebrate in the mission is christmas.  BUt i lvoe you all and im
gratefull for all of you lvoe and prayers for me. I certainly coldnt
do anything without you all!

Endure to the End

ok so yall dont have to wait anymore here is my weekly letter settle down now!

Ok so this week, well another week without baptising has gone by but we were really close to finally baptising mario and i know we are going to baptize soon because even with the dry spell we havent slown down yet! SO monday and tusday were normal days, just knocking doors talking to randome people in the street, and all that good jazz.  Ok then wednesday... the same thing, almost.  We got a call from the zone leaders, they told us that they were going to help us get things in line for the marriage of mario and aurea with a member that workes here in tuxtepec in the marriage department, and that is was possible that they could get married friday and mario baptized saturday and confirmed sunday.  Ok so then wednesday night we went and talked to them adn presented the possibility to them of getting married friday and him baptized saturday.  ANd they said they we up for doing it, and ok perfect and we told them we need them to be praying for miracles so that this could happen. Ok, and so we left them with that got home and me and my comp prayed that the miracle could happen for them to get baptized and married.  ANd the next day we met up with the zone leaders and slipt, me with elder Gonzales and Elder Peña with Elder Hienholdt, and we headed off t some pueblos that were about and hour ad a half away form tuxtepec, almost 2 hours from our area.  We had to go and get copies of thier birth certificates so they could have them for when they get married.  Ok, and so we ot those and we went to the house of mario and Aurea and we informed them that everything was now in place for them to get married and that they only had to go and get some medical tests that the registration center requires for them to get married. ok, and so with that we let them know that everything after that would be ready for them to get married the next morning.  Ayayaya, and then mario well he no longer wnated to get married, he became like a horse fighting the rope, he didnt want to budge.  I dotn know what happened but he just didnt want to do it.  We even offered to help pay for it, but i guess he just wasnt as ready as he appeared to be.  So we told him willgive him the night to think about it and that in the morning we would return so see whats up.  Ok and so we return the next morning to ee whats going on, and mario went to work and blah blah.  And we havent seen him since.  His poor wife feels pretty let down and we do as well.  We arnt gonn let him know we felt dissappointed.  Im a little bummed because we havent baptized for a long tme.  But its just part of the mission.. bieng paciente.  We are going to drop just about all of our investigators and start over, they arnt showingmuch desire and we need to help them realize thier need to prgress.

Im doing the best i can to just always  be animated enthusiastic and happy, some days its a real challenge, but its the base way to make it through. Wortking as hard as i can the best i can and not letting myelf lose faith in the people or the area.  ITs making me face alot more opposition, but without its i wouldnt know the difference of bitter and sweet and its all gonna pay off in the end.  SO tis week we are just gonna keep goin at it.  Ohh and by the way thos who were wondering , im not moving.  Im gonna be here for another transfer.  One of the sisters said that she had a dream that i was here for ten months... if that comes true that means it will be me last area, so we will see.  BUt i cant get my spirits down, the people depend too much on us to do that.  So another month and a half of working aay here.  Please include me in your prayers, i cnat do it without you guys thats for sure! Thanks for all that you do do, it makes a world of a difference!

Workin' on my faith

WOW. It's november again, and i just passed my 6th fast sunday in this area and transfers are next tuesday.  I dont feel like im gonna get transfered, but ya never know.  I have knocked at least 90 percent of the doors in this area, ans im pretty sure everyone recognizes me as the only blue eyed blond haired kid for miles...kilometers.  Not to mention that the water in our area is a little high in chlorine so that just makes me all that more blond... But i love this area, its been something really special to me and if im here for a little longer it wouldn't bug me.  It would be a little boring, but its better than the possibility of going to another area that isn't as fun as here.  SO this week in my studies i have decided I really need to work on the faith region of my spiritual muscle group.  SUre i work and i do what i can to be obediente and diligent, but faith without works is dead and works without faith can be in vain.  SO i really dont want that so im working on implementing a lot more faith in my life. First by supplementing myself with faith boosts by reading and studying more about faith and then just building myself of more and not spend so much time for things to improve on or that im not good in and focus on what i do do right and what i do do good.  Its going to take a lot of mental control but i can do it!

So the area is alright, there isn't a whole lot going on, this week we have been contacting and knocking ALOT, but with little immediate results, i know nothing we do as missionaries is in vain, but it does get tiring without immediate results.  BUt at least im growing and making progress, and i know a lot of miracles are going to be happening really soon.  BUt all of our investigators are the same and the are in the same situations.  We are just waiting for them all to take the initiative to progress and go forward.  It will come soon as they continue to look for the light and find God and feel the increase of peace and happiness in their lives ad they repent and come to the true gospel.

This week one of our investigators gave us a fun experience, she has a father who was form the 7th day worshiper church and a mother form jehova witnesses, so she thinks she knows the bible but obviously doesn't know anything.  SHe was trying to show us way we are not a true church, mostly because of the plan of salvation, she obviously didn't understand it. and saying we are wrong because we teach false doctrine and all that basuda.  Elder Peña and me started to get a little frustrated, but with questions we shut her up good and helped her see the flaws in her on understanding.  I dont think we are going to go back there but we left leaving her strong testimonies about the book of mormon and an invitation to church.  It was a good day to bring my bible thats for sure...

Family, thanks for the letters, to feel the support of you guys fills in a huge void that I sometimes feel out here. So thank you Paige, Sophia, Grandma Nelson and Katie and everyone that helps me feel loved.  It does a lot more than you can imagine.  I love you all and i know i couldn't make a single step out here without all of your help to me so thanks for everything you guys give me and your support.  I couldn't do a think without you guys. Have a great week and make good choices!

31 October 2011

Well another Monday has come and another week has gone, wow.  Well this week was a little longer and a little faster at the same time.  Me and Elder Peña are getting along better than ever before and a lot of our prayers have been answered.  And the branch building had decent attendance yesterday which was another plus, its has been really down for a while but yesterday and last week a lot of people who hadn't been for a while were there.  We just gotta get everyone to commit to a consistent attendance.  Investigator wise at the moment things don't seem to be as set or smooth as i would like them to be, from my view quiet a few currently lack a bit if initiative or the confidence necessary to move forward.  This last week we have been dropping a lot of people that we taught for a long time and its looking like we are going to continue dropping people.  Its a real bummer to be honest because you rally want the best for these people, but sometimes its the best way you can truly show you love for them.  They say if you rally love you investigators you drop them, for a while so that they can notice the difference.  Just about all day everyday of this week was knocking doors.  We are really trying to rebuild up the teaching pool we had, everybody we had in September and the beginning of the months got baptized or we left them so its felt i bit of a long and grueling process of rebuilding.

But Thursday me and elder Peña had a good companionship planning/inventory and things of gone better since.. the power of communication.  Most of the  people that let us in to teach them all said no to going to church this week, so that was a real bummer.  But its not reason enough to get our hopes down or to incline the head, where one door closes two more open.  And weather the blessing comes in this life or the life after, in 10 minutes or 10 years, i don't know, but it will come so we just gotta stick it out to the end.  We are still working with Mario, but we haven't been able to see him for a while, and when we do talk with him he tends to be a bit to hard headed to fully accept what we teach.  His problem is that he still is really good friends with Miguel (form the coffee incident) and who knows what kind of bad influence that is.  So this week if we don't see much more progress in Mario we are going to have to drop him for a while.  I don't really want to drop him because he does go to church.  But he isn't sure about accepting a baptismal date and he still has to get married to Aurea.  Then we have also started working with family the recent converts Guadalupe and Daniel.  They are OK, the niece of Guadalupe went to church yesterday and said she liked it a lot, so we just gotta keep her animated and see if we can get her to agree to baptized the 12 with Mario.  And we are still working with Levi and Jessica, its a tough situation, they have to get married as well, but they have no time.  you all know how it is to be a young couple, taking care of your kid and working to pay for him so that really been a tough speed bump, but like a speed bum it's possible to overcome.

Well everyone we teach has no excuse to not get baptized, i just think they have to truly desire it.  Its gonna continue to take a lot of patience and perseverance on my part to get everything to work out, but i know it will work out sooner or later or in one way or the other.  And as for me I'm fine, today i have been resting a lot, we didn't  go anywhere for p-day today, just a lot of sleeping and listening to music and reading.  I cant believe i have 18 months in the mission, and that its already almost my 2nd Christmas in the mission.  I'm way to young for that to be happening! Don't ask me about what I'm gonna do in 7 months because i definably don't know, something to do with work school and who knows what else.  I really try hard not to think about it to be honest, i believe ill have enough time to think about it when I'm get there so ill do my best to be patient and to ponder that jazz.  But life right now really is requiring a lot of patience, with myself and my weaknesses, and the area and the people I work with and the opposition.  I'm convinced that in just about all of us our true desires deep down are to be perfect like Christ and to have a perfect faith like he did and the eye of faith into the next life as he did so that we don't focus so much on the silly temporal things of this world but sometimes we just don't, its the joke of been human i guess you could say.  As mush as i want to be 100% and 100% 100% i just don't make it to the 100%.   BU ti know that even though I'm not 100% Jesus was infinite percent to make up for my .00000001% and that he will help everything in the area to workout to be perfect so that we can complete with the mission goals.  Here in this region of Mexico we are asked to baptize every week.  Me and Elder Flores almost did it in Jun and a little in July, i know its possible here and we can do it, some missionaries here have baptized weekly up to 24 weeks straight. I know if i keep working i can do it too, the grace of Christ is sufficient for all mankind, so i believe i can be helped to complete with out mission goal so that's what I'm working for more than anything and it requires a lot of mental diligence as well as physical.  Success is all in the mind and the attitude of the one striving to obtain it, successful is a state of mind and i know i can reach it! I love you all and thanks for all of your prayers and support, i couldn't go a day without all of your help to me so thanks for everything! Ill keep ´praying for you guys and please don't stop praying for me!
